About the Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Essex County
The Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Essex County (ASWE) continued to grow and was incorporated in 1985.
Today, it is a registered charitable organization.
Through the years, the Society has developed a number of programs which are facilitated by both
professional staff members and trained volunteers, administered by a CEO and governed by a
community based Board of Directors. ASWE was the first chapter in Canada to offer self-staffed
In-Home Respite Services.
After renting various locations for many years, in 2008, the Society purchased and moved into its
own building to continue to meet the growing needs of the community, well into the future.
Previous locations were: Red Cross Building on Ouellette at Giles Blvd., 1010 University Ave.
W., 242 Lauzon Road (from 1995 to 2008).
In the 11 years that ASWE has been at 2135 Richmond our staff has grown along with the needs
of our clients. Some of the requirements that we will need that our current building does not have

B) Covered secure outdoor space
C) Secure gardens and walking paths / increased green space
D) Private offices for Education & Support Coordinators
E) Comfortable counselling rooms
F) Covered entrance
G) Increased parking
H) Room for expansion
